Springboard
Springboard is a program for small and mid-sized arts and cultural organizations. Working with 501 Commons consultants, board and staff members develop a plan to address priority issues identified through an organizational assessment. You will work on problems like improving business operations, increasing revenues, growing audiences, and strengthening governance.
How It Works
Up to six nonprofits participate in each cohort group, so you will learn from your peers as well as from our consultants and expert trainers. Three people from each organization must participate, with at least one of them being a board member. Program components include:
- An organizational assessment of 8 core competency areas
- Working with 501 Commons consultants to develop an action plan
- A seminar on arts management
- 4 cohort meetings with peers and local arts management experts, led by Claudia Bach of AdvisArts
The program starts in January with the planning process concluding in June. A September gathering allows the cohort to share the results they have acheived in implementing their Springboard plans.
Benefits
Through Springboard, your team will develop the ability to quickly identify and address organizational problems, spot opportunities, develop actionable plans, and measure success on those plans. Organizations that make this kind of intentionally-focused planning a habit are more likely to succeed over time. Planning takes time, but it makes an organization more nimble and resilient in the long term.
