Andrea Caupain Sanderson

Board Member

Central to Andrea’s professional career is her passion for making a positive impact on racial equality and alleviating poverty. She has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Byrd Barr Place, a nonprofit that provides underserved individuals with basic needs and programs that encourage self-sufficiency, since 2008.

Before joining Byrd Barr Place, Andrea worked for four years for the Washington State Governor’s Commission on African-American Affairs by providing them with analysis and strategic development on legislative projects. Her work has also involved policymaking for the Washington State House of Representatives. She holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Evergreen State College.

Andrea brings to 501 Commons nearly two decades of experience in community leadership, management, finance, fundraising, advocacy, public affairs, and engaging boards.
