Janice Deguchi

Board Member

Janice Deguchi is a seasoned human services executive with more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector managing existing and developing new programs in aging, vocational education, and early childhood education. She is committed to improving the community and is passionate about wellness and professional growth and development.

Since 2014, Janice has served as the Chief Operating Officer of Keiro Northwest, a senior health care organization, where she is responsible for overseeing and expanding several programs, including Assisted Living, Adult Day Care, Home Care, Continuing Education, Catering, and Transportation.

Prior to her current position, Janice served as the Executive Director of Denise Louie Education Center for 17 years, where she was responsible for strategic planning, a multi-million dollar budget, 70 employees, fundraising, advocacy, and governance. Janice successfully managed a multi-site preschool/Head Start program and implemented new programs including Early Head Start home visiting, Strengthening Multiethnic Families, and Health Care Institute (a program sponsored by UCLA to increase the health literacy of low-income families). During her tenure, she oversaw three major renovations, including a $2.1 million capital campaign.

Janice served on the board and as President of the Seattle Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), a civil rights organization, where she advocated against Washington’s anti-affirmative action initiative, I-200. As President of the Washington State Association of Head Start/ECEAP, Janice led statewide advocacy efforts against the block granting of Head Start. In 2013, she was selected as a Parent Map Superhero for her advocacy on behalf of young children. Janice was a volunteer income tax preparer at Seattle Goodwill for the 2014, 2015 and 2016 filing seasons.

Janice received her Master's in Education from Seattle University and Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington. She is a proud parent of four young adults and enjoys travelling, hiking, and food.
