Catherine Nueva España

Arts & Development Program Manager

Catherine is responsible for managing 501 Commons’ Springboard and Catalyst action-learning programs.

Catherine enjoys working on collaborative projects. She has been fortunate to work with many mission-minded organizations that make an impact in their communities and value and promote the work of creative and innovative individuals. Prior to joining 501 Commons, she worked as an arts management consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area, working with a diverse group of artists and arts organizations. For three years, she was the film series curator for San Francisco’s Architecture + The City Festival, promoting the work of young filmmakers. She also served as the Managing Director of MEDIATE Art Group, which produces the Soundwave Biennial, a renowned sound art festival. Catherine’s architecture and design background includes working for Atelier Ten, consulting for Bay Area architecture firms, and serving on the committees of architecture and green building design conferences.

Catherine grew up in New York and now resides in Seattle. Catherine has an M.A. in Dance Studies from Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London and a B.A. in History and Women’s Studies from Wellesley College. She was formerly a contemporary dance performer and dance teacher. She speaks Tagalog and French and is learning Spanish.
