As the Management Consulting Program Manager, Jan strives to help clients fulfill their goals by working to understand and frame their needs, matching them with applicable resources, and overseeing consulting assignments. Prior to assuming this role, Jan spent six years managing 501 Commons' Executive Service Corps (matching skilled volunteers with nonprofits’ management consulting needs) and helping agencies evaluate and build upon their own operational strengths. She brings more than 20 years of experience connecting volunteers to meaningful opportunities in the community and ensuring that both client needs and volunteer expectations are met.
Unbeknownst to Jan, her nonprofit journey really started in college where she found a sense of community organizing outdoor excursions for students. After a few pit stops and a move, she found her next home with Seattle Works as the director of volunteer programs. At Seattle Works, she developed and managed volunteer programs for people in their 20s and 30s. She also served as the interim executive director for the Washington Association for the Education of Young Children.
Fast forward another decade and she continues to be inspired by both the woods and helping people find their niche through service to the nonprofit community.
Jan has enjoyed organizing and participating in a series of team-based service trips to the Gulf Coast, Thailand and Peru. Luckily for her, her husband is always the first to say yes when asked to travel and volunteer, so they have enjoyed a sense of global connection and service together. Their current shared projects include raising their small daughter, Ryan, and making sure their sweet pup is able to get outside and play.
Fun Fact: Jan once spent a summer camping by herself in Alaska, fueling her trip by driving to town each day to sell Russian Matryoshka dolls.
