For over a decade at the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (a past 501 Commons client), Matt helped organizations of all types and sizes thrive. He did this by providing environmental information and referrals to thousands of nonprofits, businesses, and governmental agencies. At the core of that aid was an online directory of service providers and best-practice materials he helped create. Yet, what he’s most proud of is the excellent customer service he brought to every exchange. Today, Matt brings this experience – and enjoyment of working with people and groups from all corners of the state – to his role as Information & Referral Program Manager (aka “resource navigator” or “nonprofit concierge”).
While at the Chamber, Matt also played a major and successful role in promoting those assistance services through marketing and media relations. He further honed his communications skills by working for political, communications, and environmental consulting firms. His most recent job before 501 Commons was Campaign Director at Bellingham-based Wildlife Media where he raised funds and brought attention to the group’s global conservation film and funding campaign, BEARTREK.
Over the years, Matt has done a considerable amount of volunteer work for a wide range of causes, including serving on the board of a statewide environmental group and being on the Advisory Board for the University of Washington's Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Some of his favorite things to do outside of work are hiking, going to concerts, and watching any soccer game he can find time for – from high school to the World Cup.
Fun fact: Summited four of the state's five volcanos (including Mt. Rainier) and could be caught daydreaming about the fifth one...or another peak.
