Yalonda Allen-Sinde

Consulting Services Manager

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Yalonda earned a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in Executive Nonprofit Leadership from Seattle University. Previously, she’s been the Executive Director of two nonprofit organizations, serving for ten years at each organization. She’s also worked as a volunteer for numerous nonprofits over the years.

Yalonda is best known for her work with the Community Coalition for Environmental Justice (CCEJ), spearheading efforts from 1993-2006 to address disparate environmental impacts to communities of color in Washington State and the Pacific Northwest. As the Executive Director, CCEJ was successful in eliminating two major sources of air pollution in Seattle, passing groundbreaking legislation, building multicultural coalitions, mobilizing communities of color, and so much more.

She is motivated to work in the nonprofit sector because of the work done to serve the common good, which is where we make an impact on issues that impact real people every day. Yalonda strongly cares about making the world a better place today and for future generations.

Yalonda loves to travel and has traveled to Cuba, West Africa, South Africa, and many parts of the U.S. She brings to 501 Commons more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector and a passion for helping nonprofits celebrate their strengths and address their weaknesses.

As someone who has dedicated her life to racial and social justice, she’s committed to ensuring that more organizations of color can learn about the great offerings at 501 Commons.

Fun fact: On a personal note, Yalonda is a home improvement geek who takes on many repair and renovation challenges without fear. She’s actually quite good at floor tile installation and even installed a sink and dishwasher that is of professional quality. Definitely a proud weekend warrior!
