Juliene Gschwend has worked in the nonprofit sector since 2005, beginning with Cascade Public Media in Seattle. Her earlier participation in entrepreneurship led Juliene to gain valuable accounting skills that make her an ideal fit to serve nonprofit organizations, namely the ability to wear many hats!
Juliene is a proud Western Washington University graduate. When she finds the time, she loves taking online classes to learn a wide range of subjects that she didn’t have time to learn in school, such as marketing and sustainable development. She brings to 501 Commons’ Financial Services team experience working in small businesses, startups, media, and arts and social services organizations in both accounting and development roles. She has skills using multiple accounting systems, as well as sales/donor databases and email management systems.
Her interests include the arts, design, sustainability, and environmental justice. She is a board member of the nonprofit arm of a small community dump and recycling center that is solving environmental issues using creativity and innovation.
Fun Fact: While a Seattleite through and through, she spends an inordinate amount of time on islands, ranging from Lopez Island (in the PNW) to occasional visits to Kauai and Iceland.
