Executive Advising and Leadership Coaching: Who's in Your Corner?

Posted Aug 10, 2017 09:00 AM
Sometimes, we all need someone who will stand in our corner when times get tough. Inquire today about our Executive Advising and Leadership Coaching programs to get matched with someone who can deliver that much needed support.

Our executive advisors are experienced nonprofit professionals who can offer short term advice or act as a longer term mentor. Our leadership coaches can work with you or your staff to improve organizational effectiveness and promote personal development. Learn more about both opportunities to improve your leadership and professional skills.

Executive Advising
This leader-to-leader relationship allows you to work with someone who’s “been there, done that.” We will match you with an advisor from our Executive Service Corps who are former executive directors, board chairs, or high-level professionals. Advisors don’t do consulting projects, write reports, or give out homework! They meet with a leader to serve as a sounding board or advisor.

Leadership Coaching
Coaching is different than working with an advisor or consultant. A coach helps you identify how you can be more effective in the workplace. When you sign up for this service, we will suggest two of our experienced coaches. You will interview both and decide which will be the best fit for you.

Laura Skelton, executive director of Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility, says working with her coach has made her job feel more manageable:

“[My coach] gave me practical tips – like don’t check your work email in the morning before you actually get to work,” she says. “She coached me in navigating a major management challenge and helped me determine how to meet the objectives of a new program without overextending our resources.”
