#GivingTuesday is Set for November 29

Posted Nov 01, 2016 02:35 PM
Once again, #GivingTuesday is happening on November 29, 2016, which is the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Now is the time for nonprofits large and small to start crafting their marketing plans for making #GivingTuesday a success.

#GivingTuesday is a grassroots social media/viral campaign that aims to kick off the year-end giving season by piggybacking on popular holiday shopping days like Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.

Directory partner Collins Group has a “Short and Sweet” guide to making #GivingTuesday a success!

Unlike The Seattle Foundation’s GiveBIG, #GivingTuesday is not organized by any single organization, but instead is a charitable giving awareness campaign that nonprofits around the country can take advantage of to receive additional donations during the holidays.

So there’s no need to register or sign up for anything. Nonprofits should build a social media campaign that uses the #GivingTuesday hashtag and create measurable goals for success, just as you would for any other kind of fundraising effort. Peruse through the #GivingTuesday website for ideas.

BidPal hosted a free hour-long webinar that discussed mobile fundraising lessons from real nonprofits and how to craft a successful campaign. You can watch it on demand.
