Help a Nonprofit Develop a Technology Plan through Plan IT!

Posted Aug 09, 2016 03:30 PM
501 Commons is seeking volunteers with diverse technology skills and a broad understanding of business technology to serve as Technology Planning Consultants for the Fall 2016 cohort of Plan IT, our tech-focused action-learning program.

In today’s world, efficient technology can help nonprofits make a greater impact in their communities. Unfortunately, too often organizations face challenges in this area and are not adequately using the technology available to them to their advantage.

Plan IT is a technology-focused action-learning program (sponsored by Microsoft Philanthropies) that transforms how nonprofits approach their tech and incorporate it into their day-to-day operations. 501 Commons seeks volunteers with diverse technology skills and a broad understanding of business technology to serve as Technology Planning Consultants for the fall 2016 cohort.

As a consultant, Plan IT provides the opportunity to:

  • Apply your knowledge of business technology in a high-impact volunteer role
  • Learn about planning and decision-making processes
  • Increase an organization's understanding of their technology needs
  • Make a difference in the nonprofit community's ability to utilize technology to their advantage
The Plan IT process: Two consultants are paired together, one with technical skills and a broad understanding of technology, and the other consultant with expertise in planning and facilitation. The consultant team is then matched with a nonprofit organization. The consultants facilitate a structured planning process alongside the nonprofit's project team to assess technology strengths and weaknesses, identify goals, and collaboratively create a tangible action plan to achieve them. The commitment is 10-12 hours per month from September to December 2016.
To apply, visit our Volunteer Application and select Technology Consultant. Please apply by August 15.
