Help a Nonprofit Upgrade to Windows 10

Posted Mar 29, 2017 11:30 AM
Are you a Windows-savvy volunteer who can help upgrade King County nonprofits to Windows 10? On May 15 and 22, 2017 we're giving nonprofits the opportunity to upgrade for free thanks to Microsoft.

Bring a partner or we will match you with another volunteer to work with a selected nonprofit. The day will start at 8:30 a.m. at Pacific Tower (1200 12th Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98144) for orientation. You should plan to be available for the full day. Register for this volunteer opportunity.

Required qualifications include:

  • Experience with Windows 10 upgrades,
  • Knowledge of various types of computers, and
  • A good understanding of networking.
Windows servers and Active Directory (on and off premise) experience is a huge plus! Volunteers don't have to be a member of the 501 Commons Executive Service Corps program, but professional/volunteer experience with nonprofits is an advantage.
Project Leaders

We are also looking for several Executive Service Corps volunteers to serve as Windows 10 Upgrade for Nonprofits Project Leaders. You need to be available up to 2 hours a week leading up to the project dates in May and then all day on both of the Upgrade dates. You will help us with volunteer and nonprofit recruitment in April and early May, assist with the training, and be a resource for on-site volunteers during the upgrade process.

When you register with your interest, please select the option for applying to be a project lead. Project leads will be selected by April 10.

Please refer this opportunity to colleagues with tech experience even if they are not already in 501 Commons' volunteer network. Send questions to Crystal Cheairs at crystal@501commons.org or (206) 682-6704 ext. 111.
