501 Commons and United Way of King County are pleased to announce the selection of 32 health and human services organizations to participate in the United Way Volunteer Impact Partnership’s (VIP) two feature programs, VIP 360 and VIP Manager Corps.

VIP programs are funded by United Way and delivered to King County organizations in partnership with 501 Commons. 501 Commons uses our expertise and resources in managing skills-based volunteers to recruit, train and supervise VIP volunteers who assist organizations with enhancing and growing their volunteer programs. Through our partnership with United Way, our goal is that the VIP programs will increase volunteerism in the community and ultimately help organizations advance their missions.

Why VIP? Today many nonprofit organizations are struggling with an increased demand for their services, but significantly reduced resources. Continuing to deliver on their mission requires strategic and creative thinking. Investing in volunteer engagement efforts to use volunteer resources more effectively is one of the creative strategies helping organizations to meet demand. Started in 2009, VIP has helped 50 area organizations to enhance their volunteer engagement efforts and broaden volunteerism.

VIP  360 – Now in its 4th year, VIP 360 provides over $15,000 in services to strengthen King County organizations’ ability to deliver services. Congratulations to the 18 organizations that will participate in a comprehensive 4-month volunteer engagement capacity building program designed to help organizations more effectively recruit, engage and retain high-value volunteers.

VIP Manager Corps - For the first time, 501 Commons was tasked with the responsibility of matching 20 non-profit organizations with 20 part-time Pro Bono Volunteer Managers to help expand and improve their efforts to engage volunteers. In addition to the 501 Common’s staff support, two AmeriCorps VISTAs joined forces with 501 Commons to support and partake in the work of the VIP Manager Corps in the coming year.

Congratulations to the 20 organizations that will receive a pro-bono part-time volunteer manager. As a result of VIP Manager Corps more than 1,000 new volunteers will be mobilized in King County.

Do you know any of these organizations? Please congratulate them!
