If you resolved to help others and volunteer more in 2013, we have several great opportunities for you! From social service agencies to arts organizations, you can put your skills to work to support nonprofits.

Two Opportunities to be a VIP

The Volunteer Impact Program, in partnership with United Way of King County, now includes two initiatives. VIP 360 will launch its fourth year in February 2013 working with social service organizations. Consultants will work in pairs with nonprofit staff to conduct an assessment, identify key issues, and develop a plan for using volunteers more effectively. Expect to spend 10 hours a month on the project. VIP consultants need to have planning and facilitation skills (a human resources background is also a plus) and the ability to create a detailed and professional-quality written plan. Please contact Jan Burrell at jan@501commons.org to sign up.

If you're able to make a bigger time commitment and have experience in volunteer management or human resources, join the VIP Managers Corp. You will serve as a volunteer manager for ten hours a week for a minimum of 360 hours with a human services organization. Read more about this opportunity here.

Help Arts Groups Spring to the Next Level

Springboard helps small and mid-sized arts and cultural organizations develop the ability to quickly identify and address organizational problems, spot opportunities, develop action plans, and measure success.

The consultant training will be held in early February and the program kickoff will be late February. The bulk of your work will be from March to June when the plans will be completed. Expect to spend about 10 hours a month. The client meetings can be scheduled at times that are mutually convenient, but you will need to be available during some business hours. Springboard consultants need to have planning and facilitation skills and must be able to create a detailed and professional-quality written plan. Read more about the program and contact emily@501commons.org by January 18 if you'd like to participate.
