Online fundraising has been growing and is really kicking into high gear because of the pandemic. Peer-to-peer campaigns, like the FUNdraising pages that are a part of GiveBIG, are driving much of the growth in online giving. Read our announcement message to get more of the details.
This winter is likely to be the most important fundraising season the sector has experienced in years. This is why we are opening the Washington Gives website in time for GivingTuesday, set for Dec. 1, 2020. All GiveBIG Washington 2020 participants will be able to automatically use the Washington Gives website for GivingTuesday and year-end fundraising campaigns until Jan. 25, 2021. Then, on Jan. 26, registration will open for both Washington Gives and GiveBIG 2021, which will happen May 4–5, 2021. Your login credentials and organizational information remain the same.
Donations are still charged a 4.9% fee (for example, $2.45 on a $50 donation) for technology, credit card processing, and customer service. During GiveBIG 2020, donors paid 86% of those fees, meaning the cost to nonprofits was less than 1%.
Organizations that were not a part of GiveBIG 2020 can register now and pay the sliding scale participation fee, which starts at $20. You will be all set up for GiveBIG 2021 and can use the Washington Gives platform for GivingTuesday on Dec. 1 and your year-end giving campaign.
Beginning now, individuals, groups, and businesses can visit the Washington Gives website to discover and donate to organizations that address the causes they care about. Visitors can also easily share links to the nonprofits they support with others.
