Donate by check, credit card or EFT

We welcome your gift or your giving inquiry. A donor’s contribution to us touches the lives of thousands. Give now or let us help you craft a gift plan that extends your generosity over many years into the future, in keeping with your personal and family financial goals.

In our work delivering support services to nonprofits, we count on current and planned gifts from donors like you to financially sustain our mission and services. Even as we are supported by foundations, corporations, and others, along with our nonprofit fees for services, donation gifts of all sizes and types play a pivotal role in funding delivery of our services to our nonprofit organization clients. In addition to the satisfaction of giving, your current or planned gift may provide you with certain tax advantages.

Don't forget to also review information about workplace giving and volunteer hour matching as well as our wish list for in-kind items.

Credit Card

Make a safe and secure one-time or recurring online donation using your credit card. Donations through our online portal can be made in honor or in memory of the individual or family of your choice. We can accept gifts up to your credit card limit online. You may need to contact your credit card company to process a large contribution.

Check

Mail or deliver your check, payable to “501 Commons,” to our office location and mailing address: Pacific Tower, Suite 1101, 1200 12th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98144-2712. Please write "Donation" in the memo area of the check.

Debit, Recurring, or Multi-Year Pledge Gifts

We will set up debit, recurring, or multi-year pledge gifts tailored to your wishes through our online portal. Make a one-time donation or schedule recurring (monthly, quarterly) electronic fund transfer (EFT) contributions through the online banking services provided by your bank or credit union, which can be paid from your checking or savings account. Giving via EFT is secure, convenient, and helps 501 Commons to reduce administrative costs. More information about EFT can be obtained from your financial institution.

Donor Advised Funds (DAF)

An easy, highly popular charitable vehicle, a donor advised fund is a type of giving program account sponsored and administered by many community foundations or investment firms across the country. DAFs combined highly favorable tax benefits with flexibility in giving to your chosen nonprofit. DAFs are somewhat like a charitable savings account, and may be an excellent way to combine potential favorable tax benefits while easily supporting 501 Commons.

To set up a DAF, transfer cash or other assets to a tax-exempt sponsoring organization. Then determine and recommend to your DAF administrator how much and how often money is to be granted to 501 Commons. You may qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction at the time you contribute to the account.

You may also have your administrator mail your DAF gift to 501 Commons or if you have additional questions, please be in touch with us:

Stocks, Bonds, and Mutual Fund Gifts

Gifts of appreciated equities and fixed-income securities can be given directly, and if owned for more than one year, may assist you as a donor in avoiding capital gains tax. Securities that have lost value can also be sold, with a donor taking the capital loss deduction, and making a gift to 501 Commons. Stock certificates that are held by a donor can also be given; if the stock is registered in more than one name, each person must sign the stock power form. Mutual fund gifts are also accepted.

Please e-mail Nancy Long, in advance of donating securities, to inform her of the name and contact information for the broker transferring the securities, the identity and amount of the securities, as well as the expected transfer date.

Transfer securities to:
Custodian: Charles Schwab
Account Name: 501 Commons
Account #: 4973‐9594
DTC: 0164

Questions regarding the transfer should be directed to:

IRA Charitable Rollover or Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you own an IRA and are age 70 ½ or older, a Charitable IRA Rollover makes it easy to use IRA assets during your lifetime to make charitable gifts. Direct the custodian of your pretax Traditional or Roth IRA (under certain conditions) to transfer up to $100,000 per year to 501 Commons without counting that distribution as taxable income.

To qualify under the law, your IRA administrator, not you, must transfer the funds directly to 501 Commons with you identified as the account owner and donor, and with your name and address on the distribution check or accompanying letter. Distributions made in this way may satisfy all or part of the current year’s distribution.

Direct distributions may not be made from a 401K, 403B or SEP account. However, a tax-free transfer may be possible from a 401K or 403B to an IRA. Direct distributions cannot be made to a Donor Advised Fund or to fund a Charitable Remainder Trust.

For additional information and instructions, please send a message to nancy@501commons.org or call (206) 682-6704.

Make a pledge or reoccurring donation

You can contribute more to changing how nonprofits are doing important work in our communities by making a donation or committing to a reoccurring donation through our Washington Gives profile. To make a pledge, send a message to nancy@501Commons.org or call 206-682-6704.
