Dr. Mark Smutny is a seasoned nonprofit consultant, professional facilitator, retreat leader, and author of the award-winning book: "Thrive: The Facilitator’s Guide to Radically Inclusive Meetings, 2nd ed." Drawing on decades of experience, Mark helps nonprofits establish a culture of respect, address organizational dysfunction, and redirect the collective energy of staff, board and volunteers towards mission success.

Mark's background includes facilitating organizational change in human services, transportation, affordable housing, homeless services, civic engagement, business associations, and faith-based groups. He teaches, writes, and speaks on the art of inclusive facilitation.

With a lifelong passion of strengthening communities and building healthy organizations, Mark Smutny is committed to creating a more compassionate society. Beyond his professional pursuits, he finds joy in hiking, fly fishing, gardening, and sharing culinary creations with his wife Barbara. Together, they enjoy four granddaughters. As a dedicated volunteer, Mark also serves as a substitute chef and coordinates a monthly pancake breakfast at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell, WA.
