About Jones & Associates LLC, CPAs

Since 2000, we have been providing services exclusively to the smaller nonprofit community in the Puget Sound region. This focus allows us to be the finance partner that understands the general and specific challenges being a nonprofit today poses. We are unique among CPA firms in the Puget Sound region in two regards. First, we only hire experienced staff so our clients don't have to be concerned that we are training our people in the field. This also allows us to be efficient with our time and keep our costs reasonable. Second, we handle all engagements using a cross-functional team. This allows us to have knowledge transfer between audit, review or compilation and tax. This again creates efficiencies and allows for a more thorough service to be provided.

Specific services offered include compliance services, including audit, review, and compilations, as well as Form 990 preparation and review, consulting projects and financial systems reviews.

AUDITS/REVIEWS/COMPILATIONS: While the mechanics of performing compliance services, such as audits, reviews and compilations can be found in many textbooks, it takes professionals with years of experience and depth in the nonprofit industry to understand the individuality of financial data to each nonprofit organization.

TAX PREPARATION: Since our tax services are exclusive to tax-exempt organizations, we are able to focus on understanding the form requirements, challenges and common errors made. We guide our clients through the necessary questions, data collection and presentation to help ensure that the completed form meets IRS guidelines, funder needs and provides good information to the public.

CONSULTING: Our specialized consulting includes both short-term projects such as chart of accounts redesign, Board reporting, and training and long-term partnerships. In addition, we offer a financial systems review (FSR). A FSR is a unique consulting service designed as an operational review of a nonprofit organization’s financial operations and internal controls. A FSR also addresses process efficiencies and cost controls comparing your organization’s practices with those of others in the nonprofit industry.

SEMINARS: We host regular low-cost seminars geared towards nonprofit management, with a focus on financial and operational staff. Seminars have previously covered a variety of topics including accounting for restricted funds, internal controls, Form 990 highlights, meaningful reporting and Finance 101. The seminars are designed to cover topics of concern to the nonprofit community and give participants tools to use in their own organizations.

In addition to these services, we support the smaller nonprofit community through free regular newsletters, speaking at various events as requested and online resources.
