About Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits & Philanthropy

The aim of the Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy is to enhance the understanding and vitality of the nonprofit and philanthropic sector through research, education, and community engagement.

RESEARCH (http://evans.uw.edu/[…]/research-nancy-bell-evans-center)
The Center conducts and supports theoretical and applied research of local, national, and international importance to nonprofit and philanthropic scholars, policy-makers, and practitioners. Our efforts focus primarily on research that examines the changing service and policy roles of nonprofit and philanthropic institutions. Find recent publications on the status and activities of nonprofits, such as “Nonprofits in Washington” and “Resilient Nonprofits,” on our website.

EDUCATION (http://evans.uw.edu/[…]/education-nancy-bell-evans-center)
The Center serves as an incubator of research-based nonprofit and philanthropic education at the Evans School and across the University of Washington by identifying, developing, and supporting advanced learning opportunities for graduate students and executive-level professionals.

The Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute (NELI), offered in partnership with Cascade Executive Programs at the Evans School, is a five-day program in a retreat setting to enhance the strategic and visionary thinking of nonprofit executives. You can find out more about NELI, as well as other Evans School and UW courses and certificate programs on nonprofit management, here: http://evans.uw.edu/[…]/nonprofit-executive-leadership-institute

And if you become a member of or log in to the Evans School's Electronic Hallway, you can access dozens of teaching cases about nonprofit organizations. Go to http://hallway.evans.washington.edu/

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (http://evans.uw.edu/[…]/community-engagement-events)
The Center convenes and connects members of the academic, nonprofit, and philanthropic communities to stimulate thinking on current issues, share research and best practices, and promote increased dialogue and collaboration.

The Center is one of the managing partners of the Washington State Nonprofit Conference (http://wastatenonprofitconference.org/), which brings together nonprofit leaders and consultants from across the state in May of each year.

If you need day-to-day, hands-on assistance to meet emerging policy or management needs, consider hiring an Evans School MPA student intern or graduate. For more information, visit http://evans.uw.edu/employers-partners
