About Non-Profit Staff Development Coalition Project (NPSDC) at the Center for Learning Connections

Established in 2003, the Non-Profit Staff Development Coalition (NPSDC) is a collaborative partnership project which serves to strengthen the critical professional and skill-development needs of employees of nonprofit member organizations in King County.

The NPSDC project is managed by the Center for Learning Connections (CLC) located at Edmonds Community College. The mission of CLC is to prepare learners to manage change and create successful futures. In recognizing the critical link between learning, the changing economy and workplace, our mission serves the needs of diverse populations in making successful transitions in their professional and personal lives. The Center achieves its mission by designing training and managing projects to help individuals and organizations respond to change and improve quality. We are especially effective in working with educators (at all levels and locations), human services and workforce development professionals, and community-based organizations.

NPSDC is served by a Committee consisting of representatives of member organizations. NPSDC staff development activities include workshops and the transfer and application of learned skills that have long lasting, significant impact on service delivery, program coordination and management, and leadership development. The positive 'ripple effect' created by NPSDC's mission and goal of staff development ultimately triggers, fosters and promotes, through excellence in service delivery, significant improvement in the quality of lives of the disadvantaged children, adults and families being served, and building much needed capacity and long-term sustainability in member organizations.

Current activities include development and delivery of monthly skill-building workshops, annual needs assessment and the development of an effective ‘transfer of learning model’ that will be implemented by member organizations to track the learning impact and skill-building outcomes on job performance and effectiveness.
