About Third Sector Company

Our mission is to foster a continuity of professional and voluntary leadership for the futures of the nonprofit sectors in the United States and Canada. Founded in 2002 by nonprofit professionals to benefit their peers, The Third Sector Company, Inc. is a highly specialized professional services organization deeply committed to and driven by a mission statement that values human capital development as fundamental to an organization's success.

Since its beginnings, Third Sector Company has approached its work as a mission-driven social enterprise to provide the following lines of service exclusively to the nonprofit sector of charitable organizations and professional trade associations:

INTERIM EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS: Providing trained, vetted, and highly experienced nonprofit chief executive and chief development officers supported by a team-approach of support and training services during times of leadership transition.

LEADERSHIP CONTINUITY TRAINING AND CONSULTATION: Offering workshops and on-site programs to teach and promote best practices in nonprofit leadership continuity planning for senior leadership at the staff and board levels.

EXECUTIVE PERFORMANCE PLANNING, REVIEW, & ENHANCEMENT: Peer mentoring, performance planning, and third party performance reviews contribute to the lowering of needless executive attrition and encourage leadership continuity.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT TRAINING: Offering institutes, academies, and licensed curricula to train the next generation of board leaders (Board Chairs Academy) as well as first-time executive directors and senior leaders desiring to advance their careers (Executive Directors Academy) into the top position. Third Sector Company also offers a full-year curriculum to foster a successful fundraising culture for chief development officers and top fundraising leadership (Fundraising Academy).

VOLUNTEER-LED SEARCH SUPPORT: Providing a step-by-step guide, training and support for volunteer search committees to deepen their understanding of the future human capital needs of their nonprofit organizations and pursue a methodology to successfully coordinate their own hiring process.
