Fundraising & Grantwriting Assistance

GiveBIG & Fundraising

It is important to cultivate individual donors and to be successful with online fundraising. 501 Commons sponsors GiveBIG Washington, one of the largest online giving events in the United States. GiveBIG benefits more than 1,600 nonprofit organizations and raised $19 million in 2020.

Participating organizations receive the Fundraising Accelerator newsletter right to their inbox every two weeks leading up to the campaign, which contains actionable next-steps and links to resources and tools. We provide training and support so you can identify new donors and leverage matching funds to increase donations. We also provide tools and training so your supporters can create effective peer-to-peer campaigns.

Grantwriting Assistance

The landscape is shifting in nonprofit grants, with many funders changing their approach and priorities. We can help you navigate diverse guidelines and application procedures to submit well-crafted proposals and increase your chances of securing funding.

Grantwriting Assistance is provided by Jan Culp, a grantwriter and fundraiser with 20+ years of experience serving nonprofits in education, social services, and the arts. Her familiarity with the nonprofit and philanthropic culture of Washington allows her to successfully collaborate with organizations and help them find opportunities that align with their mission and priorities.

This service is not out-sourced grantwriting. Jan employs a collaborative coaching approach that gives you the guidance, support, and insight to develop grant proposals on your own. We can help you articulate and document your organization’s story, demonstrating community needs and your ability to meet those needs.

She will help you develop or strengthen your case for support and improve your organization’s ability to make a focused and compelling pitch targeted to the funder's priorities and guidelines. You know your organization best. We know proposal preparation and writing!

Our services include:

  • Grant strategy planning
  • Identifying potential funders and grant opportunities
  • Help determining if an opportunity is a good match for your program
  • Ensuring proposal questions are answered clearly and concisely
  • Responding to Request for Proposals/Qualifications/Information
  • Support clarifying a project budget aligned with the proposal narrative
  • Developing case statements for support
  • Prepare to manage a grant and provide compelling reports

Lack of funding can be stressful but grantwriting doesn’t have to be. Let us help you streamline the application process so that you can submit funding requests more confidently.
